Do avocado trees need special fertilizer?

Projects that involve growing the avocado seed will most likely require a careful fertilization plan for strong growth. Fertilizing once a month with a balanced formulation of 10-10-10 will provide a nutrient source for leaf growth, root growth, and disease resistance. For example, after five years of branching out on the generic plant food I marketed as fertilizer, my tree went upward in growth to double its height after switching to fruit tree blends and a zinc supplement.

Address micronutrient deficiencies in avocados when diagnosed. If you suspect zinc deficiency because leaves are somewhat twisted after producing fruit, it is best to apply chelated zinc sprays. If the leaves are yellowing with green ribbing on the veins, it is likely a magnesium deficiency. Make a solution of 1 tbsp of Epsom salt in 1 gallon of water and spray once a month. I used this technique on one of my stunted plants and started to see new growth in as little as 3 weeks.

Monitor what you can if you are using synthetics for soil salinity monthly. A whiter crust is indicative of over-fertilization, and you would need to leach your soil with three times the pot volume of water. In my notes and records, I have observed that the flushing part of the growing process for my plants has about a 68% recovery from leaching. For the best results in avocado seed growth, fertilization should be done with light and humidity consistency.
