Coconut coir liners excel in unique gardening functions compared to other materials. They give unmatched moisture retention for plants while draining gradually, without significantly eroding the soil. I only use them for my ferns and observe much healthier growth. Your thirsty plants stay hydrated with much less risk of drowning their roots.

Installation presents some differences from your other liners. Ensure the coir is soaked before unrolling and placing it into the basket. This will activate its moisture properties. You can trim the edges nicely and clean with garden shears. For ease of installation, I use jute twine, as your liner will be completely biodegradable and will integrate nicely into the basket's structure.

Seasonal maintenance prolongs coir's usefulness. Each month, rinse the coir fibers to prevent the accumulation of dried-up minerals. Midway through the season, I turn the liners over to evenly distribute the wear and tear. I store my liner dry in the winter to prevent the coir from prematurely decomposing. Our modest approach to coir maintenance helps your packing material last longer, with less time and effort than other processes.

Climactic considerations are critical with coir. Areas with high humidity will require less watering, while drier climates may benefit most from watering. I base the frequency of each watering on the local weather patterns. Therefore, your plants are being watered appropriately for their climate.
